Biography

Dr. Patten is a Professor of Psychiatrist and Epidemiologist at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary where he holds the Cuthbertson and Fischer Chair in Pediatric Mental Health. He is the Clinical Medical Director of the Mood Disorders Program at the Foothills Medical Centre and Research Director with the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Patten’s research applies epidemiological (population-based) approaches to better understand issues related to mental health, including the prevalence of mental disorders, associated risk and prognostic factors and patterns of mortality. He has extensive experience both with survey and longitudinal research and analysis methods.
