Biography

Leah Tellier is an Assistant Professor of Teaching with the University of Calgary, in the Faculty of Nursing. Leah began teaching as a clinical instructor in 2011. She completed her Master of Nursing in 2018.

Before transitioning into academia, Leah spent 17 years working in a high-acuity emergency department, where rapid decision-making, critical thinking, and compassionate care were daily imperatives. This frontline experience continues to inform her teaching, offering students real-world insights into nursing and acute patient management.

Leah is a strong advocate for experiential learning, and is especially passionate about simulation-based education and the study of pathophysiology. Leah has assisted in the design of immersive, high-fidelity simulation scenarios that challenge students to integrate theory with practice, fostering clinical judgment and confidence in a safe, supportive environment. Her enthusiasm for pathophysiology helps students make connections between theory and clinical practice.
