Biography

Kristian Belliveau is a former graduate student in the history department, where he primarily studied Canadian Military History. His major research essay was on the impacts of the Geneva Convention, and charitable and relief organizations on the experiences of German prisoners of war at Internment Camp 135 in the town of Wainwright, Alberta during the Second World War. The camp was in operation from January 1945 to June 1946 and interned up to 1100 prisoners out of 34,000 in Canada during the war. Kristian worked with Dr. David B. Marshall in the history department and hopes to see where his academic career will take him. He completed a bachelor's degree in History in 2021 and a bachelor's degree in Education in 2023, with a specialization in secondary social studies teaching, both at the University of Calgary. He completed his Master's degree in History in August 2024.
