Energy Equity Research

I am seeking an Indigenous engineering student for a Master's degree starting Fall 2025 or Winter 2026. The position will be a part of the research team in Energy Equity. This research offers Master's student level of funding available for up to 2 years to study at the University of Calgary Schulich School of Engineering (https://schulich.ucalgary.ca/future-students/graduate/graduate-programs)  . Preference is for mechanical engineering and electrical and software engineering but will consider other disciplines.

There will be two graduate students recruited to University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering graduate programs. The primary role of the graduate students are to provide research assistance in all phases of this research project and be a full-time.  One student to be registered Master of Science and thesis-based student in Mechanical Engineering. The focus area for this student will be in thermal energy systems, energy conversion systems, energy efficient technologies, and technical and economic modeling.  The second student will be registered in Electrical and Software Engineering and will be a full-time. The registered graduate student, either in Master of Science or PhD thesis-based program in Electrical and Software Engineering. The focus area for this student will be in electrical system infrastructure and planning, utility demand side management, solar PV and battery energy storage technologies, and technical and economic modeling. 
 
The City of Calgary recently published Calgary's Energy Equity Strategy as part of their climate equity program  (https://www.calgary.ca/environment/programs/equity.html). Research work will collaborate with the City of Calgary Energy Equity programming for Urban Indigenous living in Calgary.
