Biography
Jeff Halvorsen (he/they) is a Post-doctoral Associate with the Newcomer Knowledge Hub and instructor in the University of Calgary Faculty of Social Work on Blackfoot and Treaty Seven territory and an uninvited settler on T’sou-ke territory. His dissertation interrogated white men’s allyship focused on anti-domestic violence, anti-racism and anti-colonization. He has 17 years experience in a community based settings working with individuals experiencing family violence and abuse, homelessness, and sex work and has been a credentialed evaluator with the Canadian Evaluation Society for four years. His research interest is in social justice, ally roles, masculinities, antiracism, anti-colonization, and anti-oppressive practice. On a personal note, Jeff has two beautiful kids and recently married a sociologist. Together, they have started to explore gardening (sorry plants), and love good food.
