Biography
Jasmine is a gerontological nurse certified by the Canadian Nurses Association who is dedicated to helping older adults to maintain or improve their health and quality of life. Jasmine currently pursues her doctoral degree at the University of Calgary, with the focus on dementia care and advocacy. After completing a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Calgary in 2013, she has practiced in gerontology. She has over 10 years of experience in working with older adults in various settings, both as a clinical nursing instructor and a geriatric nurse consultant, and now as a doctoral researcher. Before then, she worked in the community with diverse groups of vulnerable populations in Calgary.
Jasmine understands the importance of health environments for improving people's health and quality of life. She also emphasizes the importance of active listening to what matters most to patients and families. So, she continues to learn more about her research topic and engage with patients and families through research. Currently conducting her doctoral research in Calgary, Jasmine looks forward to using her education, training, and skill sets to touch more lives.

Projects
The research team aims to find out what hinders or helps older adults' use of non-drug treatments for early dementia. By interviewing older adults and their families, the team hopes to gain a deeper understanding of what matters most to patients and families. The purpose of this research is to identify ways to improve dementia care system, including programs, practices, policy, research, and education. The team's vision is to create a health care environment inclusive of all members of the community.
