Biography

Claudia Ondrusek is a singer, pianist, teacher and opera director. She has been teaching voice and piano for over 20 years, and her research and work interests span interdisciplinary performance, movement, storytelling and reception. During her formal music training, she studied dance and acting as an additional education. 

Claudia founded the first professional choir and the first Opera Studio in Southern Brazil, where she worked as a teacher and director for 10 years. Working with the choir, she performed concerts in the biggest cities of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, as well as in around 12 opera choruses. As a soloist, she sang in 21 operas and musical theatre productions in her hometown, and at the Italian tour of Camerata Florianopolis Orchestra. 

Claudia Ondrusek is currently a candidate for the MFA in Drama (Interdisciplinary Creation and Research) from the University of Calgary and holds degrees from the University of Santa Catarina (MM – musicology, BM - piano), Brazilian Postgraduate Institute (Voice Diploma). She also was trained as an Arts Manager through the Brazilian Ministry of Culture Program.
