Collaborative research With Dr. Faizal Abdul Careem on Infectious Bronchitis Virus.
Dr. Gupta worked on studying the pathogenesis of inclusion body hepatitis in broiler chickens and development of live, inactivated and subunit vaccines for broiler breeders for prevention of disease.

Projects
Dr. Gupta was instrumental in developing the serology lab as a part of the contract with industry to provide serology diagnostics at DSU. On expectations and right on time, with the directions from the leadership and the teamwork of the lab manager, serology technician, people from the DSU and other provincial labs, we successfully opened the serology lab in October 2023. Currently, the lab is operating in the bacteriology lab as renovation is going on in the designated serology room. We are a semiautomated lab with the capability to become fully automated depending on the sample load. In the beginning, we are offering 5 avian tests on demand from the field veterinarians. These include NDV, IBV, AE, Reovirus, and IBDV ELISA. In the year 2023, we have processed 16 cases covering 234 individual samples, and in the year 2024, we have processed 23 cases as of February 21, 2024, covering 1129 individual samples. We are planning to offer two more tests in spring which include Mycoplasma gallispeticum and Mycoplasma Synoviae. We will also be moving to the new space by the end of summer. The lab space will also be shared with mammalian serology and currently, we are offering 4 tests.
