Biography

Hi, I'm Xinyuan. My research interests broadly lie in experimental syntax, sentence processing, and formal syntax (love drawing syntax trees). If it goes into detail, I am more interested in movements and islands. I completed an MA in linguistics at Syracuse University. At that time, my focus was mainly on sociolinguistics, specifically on things related to code-switching & code-mixing, also did a little bit of computational work (I am still interested in these, but now more from a psycholinguistic perspective, like multilingual processing). I also completed an MSc in Linguistics at Universität Potsdam, where I shifted my focus to learning and practicing more about psycholinguistics and statistical analysis. And for my master’s thesis, I compared prenominal and postnominal relative clause processing in Mandarin Chinese through self-paced reading experiments.
