Areas of Research
- Using (organic) chemistry as a forum for the development of problem solving skills and communication skills
- Encouraging students to discover and enjoy science through learning environments that blend lectures, written exercises, peer discussions, and current topics
- Putting chemistry and science into perspective, encouraging critical thought over accepting information superficially, striving to dispel myths and misconceptions that surround many aspects of science
Teaching interests
Dr. Benoit teaches courses for both the Department of Chemistry and the Natural Sciences Program. These include courses on introductory chemistry, organic chemistry, science writing, and approaching scientific problems.
