Biography

Dr. Vincent (Vince) Grant is the Medical Director for the eSIM Provincial Simulation Program for Alberta Health Services, where he is tasked with leading the growth, breadth, and scope of simulation-based activities across Alberta. Vince is an Emergency Physician at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and a Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. He was the Founding Medical Director for KidSIM, the internationally recognized simulation-based education and research program at the Alberta Children’s Hospital from 2005-2020. He remains the Fellowship Director for the KidSIM Simulation Education & Research Fellowship.  Vince was also the Founding Medical Director for the Advanced Technical Skills and Simulation Laboratory, a state-of-the-art surgical and clinical simulation education facility at the University of Calgary. He has been an integral part of the growth of simulation-based education locally and has developed a national and international reputation for his work in this area. Vince is currently one of the principals for the Canadian Simulation Exchange, was the founding chair of the Canadian Pediatric Simulation Network and is currently on the board of directors for Simulation Canada. His main academic interests include simulation faculty development, debriefing and feedback methods, interprofessional simulation education, rural mobile outreach simulation, and innovation in medical education technologies. Vince is regularly invited to deliver program and faculty development at centres across Canada and around the world.

Vince is also the Medical Director for the Quality & Patient Safety Education Program for Alberta Health Services, where he helps oversee the Academy of Quality Improvement Science (AQuIS) and Communicating Unexpected Outcomes curricula.
