Activities
The research interests of Dr. Chivers are in the general area of inorganic chemistry of the main group elements, particularly boron, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, selenium and tellurium. The work involves a combination of synthesis and structural studies aided by techniques such as multinuclear NMR, IR/Raman, ESR, and UV-Visible spectroscopies in conjunction with X-ray crystallography. The applications of new inorganic materials are evaluated in the context of their unusual reactivities or unique electronic, optical or magnetic properties.
