Biography
Dr. Tatek Temesgen is a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Calgary with an extensive academic and professional background. Before joining the University of Calgary, he served as an Assistant Professor at Adama Science and Technology University. Dr. Tatek earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea, in 2017, his M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Environmental Engineering from Addis Ababa University, Institute of Technology, in 2008, and his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Bahir Dar University in 2002.
Since 2002, Dr. Tatek has worked as a lecturer, assistant professor, expert and associate consultant in industry as well as on various projects . He has also served as an Executive Committee Member of the Ethiopian Society of Chemical Engineers. His research interest focuses on the application of nanobubbles, biomimicry, and machine learning in water and wastewater treatment, as well as energy, environment, and sustainable eco-industrial practices.
Dr. Tatek’s achievements include the 2016 Seoul National University Dean’s List Best Researcher Award, sponsored by the Brain Korea (BK21PLUS) program, and a third-level award in the "Water Challenge" competition at the World Water Forum 2015. Beyond academia, he has contributed to several national projects in Ethiopia as a consultant, showcasing his dedication to leveraging research for societal advancement.
