Biography

Pakistani-born Muhammad Talal Khalid is an international scholar in the critical stream of the thesis-based Master’s programme in English Literature at the University of Calgary. Their research engages the intersections of Trauma Theory, the Long Eighteenth Century, Postcolonial Studies, and Disability Studies. Their current thesis interrogates Romantic-era literary engagements with colonialism—particularly slavery—through the lens of their anxious, often contradictory moral postures, situating these texts within the tense interplay between abolitionist discourse and imperial ideology. They completed their Honours thesis at the National University of Modern Languages, Pakistan, where they employed Critical Race Theory to examine constructions of race in American young adult literature. Beyond their academic work, they have served as Managing Editor of Muse Ponder, a literary platform dedicated to critical and creative dialogue.
