Rahat Jafri

Biography

Rahat has a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Calgary, an MSc in Finance from Brock University, and MBA and BBA honors in Accounting and Finance from the University of Central Punjab, Pakistan. Additionally, he holds an Associate Degree in Computer Engineering, which laid the foundation for his multidisciplinary interest in business and technology.

Rahat’s research interests include financial reporting, corporate tax planning, and governance. Specifically, he studies how regulations and information technologies influence financial reporting and tax planning. Also, how financial reporting and tax planning incentives impact governance and the information environment. Rahat focuses on the economics of information and employs econometric methods using empirical data.

Rahat is an exceptional educator. His commitment to teaching has been recognized with multiple teaching excellence awards from the University of Calgary.

His professional background encompasses roles in accounting information systems, auditing, and internal control management in Pakistan's telecom industry. He earned two Presidential Awards for his accomplishments as an accountant.
