Biography
Dr. Sunny Bhasin is an instructor at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. In his scholarship, his research and professional work examine how organizations optimally formulate strategy, innovate and leverage technology including artificial intelligence, and make effective decisions in increasingly complex environments to drive competitive advantage. Brings more than twenty years of international executive leadership, management consulting, entrepreneurship, governance, and organizational transformation experience across telecommunications, technology, government, higher education, and entrepreneurial ventures. Research focuses on strategic decision-making, innovation and entrepreneurship, organizational transformation, and corporate governance, with an emphasis on producing rigorous, practice-informed scholarship that advances both management theory and executive practice.

My research seeks to understand how organizations develop capabilities that enable winning strategic decision-making, innovation, and sustainable competitive advantage within increasingly technology-enabled environments. Building upon my doctoral research and executive experience, my work currently focuses on interconnected streams:
- Strategic Decision-Making Under Complexity: Examining how executives formulate strategy amid uncertainty, competing objectives, and organizational complexity.
- Technology & Innovation: Investigating how organizations align emerging technologies, digital transformation, and innovation with long-term strategic objectives.
- Entrepreneurship & Organizational Adaptation: Understanding how entrepreneurial firms and established organizations develop capabilities that support growth, innovation, and resilience.
- Governance of Emerging Technologies: Exploring governance, ethics, organizational responsibility, and executive decision-making related to artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
