Areas of Research
My research interests lie in vision and vision related issues in the pediatric population. Some research topics I have been involved in include access to vision care for all children, and in the early detection of vision related problems, including preventable vision loss. I also work in collaboration with neonatology to look at retinopathy of prematurity. I have a particular interest in areas such as pain and tolerance of eye exams in infants and premature infants. We are involved in research to optimize eye exams and looking at algorithms to limit the number of unnecessary exams. Other areas of interest include surgery and surgical outcomes for children, parental education on eye disease and in rare diseases that also affect the eye. All of my research interests have an overarching goal of improving patient and family centred care and improving access and quality care for patients.
