Child Cancer Centre) including ICU, CVICU, palliative care, acute neuro, neurorehab, mental health, adolescent mental health, GIM, cardiac, and burns units with donation funded supports since 2018, in partnership with CHF, JB Music Therapy Inc, and National Music Centre. Telepresence Robots as Patient support Tools to Reduce Isolation

I have worked with AHS IT, Virtual Health, Music therapy and Peer support groups to test the usability of telepresence robots as patient support tools during isolation.  As a result of this work, I applied for the i4 AHS Innovation Conference Launchpad competition 2021 and was named a semi-finalist (top 12 proposals) in the Mental Health and Wellness category.  I competed virtually in the Launchpad on November 4th, 2021 during the conference, delivering a 3 minute pitch. My research team completed this research study and presented results at an oral session at the International Association of Music Medicine in Berlin, September 2024.

Digital Music Therapeutics for Pain and Anxiety Tx in neurological inpatient settings: A QI and implementation project

MUSIC CARE © is the first digital app for pain and anxiety relief studied in hospital settings, validated by scientific study, and demonstrating reductions of >50% of drug consumption.  This music app was developed in France, and introduced to 4 acute neurological units at Foothills Hospital in December 2023, with initial unit staff and music therapists training.  This project will assess practical barriers and facilitators to digital music implementation in the neurological inpatient setting as well as patient experience with the app.
