Biography

Stacia is the Program Developer for WISE Planet (Women in Science and Engineering for a Diverse and Sustainable Planet) where she develops and delivers content, focusing on public policy and environmental sustainability, for the program’s Change Leadership Training. Prior to working with WISE Planet, she worked for UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural organization) developing policy recommendations to address socioeconomic, cultural, and educational barriers for women engineers.

Stacia works on challenging interdisciplinary problems at the intersection of engineering and public policy. She has extensive experience in environmental microbial laboratory research and formal training in environmental engineering and public policy. Past projects in which she has been involved include microbial ecology of drinking water distribution systems, bioremediation of PCBs bound to river sediments, water reuse classification, and life cycle assessment of new technologies. Stacia recently received the SSE Excellence Award in Teaching & Research Support (2024).
