Biography
Silvio Petriconi is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Haskayne School of Business, which he joined in 2026. Before coming to Calgary, he held positions at Bocconi University, Cornell University, and at the German Central Bank (Deutsche Bundesbank). At Bundesbank, he was leader of a research group on central bank digital currencies and digital payment systems and served as a senior architect for the Digital Euro.
His research interests span financial intermediation, financial regulation, and FinTech. Current research focuses on the governance and resilience of next-generation financial settlement infrastructure, in particular CBDCs and distributed ledger technologies. Silvio is also developing a research agenda in Quantum Finance, examining how emerging quantum technologies may shape financial markets and financial infrastructure.
His work has been presented at international conferences including the AFA, EFA, FIRS, and OxFIT, and has been published in the Journal of Financial Economics and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
At Haskayne, he teaches Investments at the graduate (MFin) and undergraduate levels. He has also designed and taught graduate-level courses in banking, financial technology, and financial machine learning.
