Biography

Shuvam Agarwala is a Master of Science (MSc) student in Electrical and Software Engineering (Cybersecurity, Thesis-Based) at the University of Calgary, Canada. He is a Graduate Research Assistant in the Smart Cyber-Physical Systems Lab, where his work focuses on cybersecurity, secure cyber-physical systems, and artificial intelligence–driven security analytics.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), Bangladesh, graduating with the Student of the Year Award of his cohort. His academic training includes machine learning, deep learning, network security, data mining, and software engineering, with interdisciplinary research applications in healthcare analytics, time-series forecasting, and anomaly detection.

Shuvam has more than four years of research experience and has published multiple peer-reviewed papers in IEEE-affiliated international conferences. His research contributions span network intrusion detection, AI-based threat modeling, epidemic prediction, mental health analytics, and social media bias analysis. He has also contributed to government-funded research projects supported by the Ministry of Education of Bangladesh.

In addition to research, Shuvam has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and has professional experience as an R&D Engineer, AI Instructor, and Software Developer Intern. He is a recipient of the Global Second Prize in the Huawei ICT Competition and other academic distinctions. His research interests include AI-enabled cybersecurity, secure software systems, and trustworthy intelligent infrastructures.
