Biography
Dr. Seyede Forouzan Javaheri Shalmani is a postdoctoral researcher at the Haskayne School of Business. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Master's degree in Financial Management. Dr. Javaheri continued her academic journey, achieving a Ph.D. in Strategic Business Management from the University of Tehran.
Projects
This research aims to better inform investors in startups and small companies who invest through equity crowdfunding (EC) about the risks involved. EC, the only regulated form of crowdfunding in Canada, faces challenges such as lack of transparency, limited information flow, and newness, leading to low trust and confidence among investors.
The study will identify and analyze EC risk factors by generating a catalog from literature and textual data scraped from online EC projects. Using interpretive structural modeling, it will create a network model to analyze the relationships among these risk factors. Techniques like MICMAC and DEMATEL will further clarify these interrelationships. The anticipated outcome is a valuable decision-making tool that helps potential investors assess risks more accurately.
