Areas of Research
My research is centered around early detection and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorders, especially cerebral palsy (CP). Evolving methods of early detection such as movement assessments paired with advanced neuroimaging techniques are allowing for earlier diagnosis. One of the major questions which still needs to be answered is whether we can take advantage of early neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain to change and adapt during development) to improve patient outcomes for those with CP.
Currently, with co-investigators, I am looking at understanding the utility of the Generalized Movement Assessment to allow for early diagnosis of CP and the barriers that currently exist to diagnosing CP earlier.
