Biography

Sana holds a Master’s degree in Neuroscience and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary. With over a decade of experience in clinical research specializing in stroke neurology, she has developed expertise in neuroimaging and neuropsychology. Sana’s professional journey includes extensive experience in the research, life sciences and innovation ecosystems across Canada and the United States, including her work with a startup in California. She is highly skilled in navigating industry landscapes, funding agencies, and government frameworks.

Before joining the Vice-President (Research) Office, Sana supported the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Schulich School of Engineering, where she applied her vast knowledge of innovation and life sciences ecosystem to guide major initiatives across six faculties, internal and external stakeholder engagement, and funding strategies.

In her current role, Sana contributes to major strategic initiatives within the Vice-President (Research) portfolio. Her work includes supporting the Advancing Canadian Water Assets (ACWA) research facility, the Urban Alliance partnership, and the Cities and Societies focus area within the Institutes of Transdisciplinary Scholarship. She brings a strong foundation in advisory and project management to advance these initiatives.
