Biography

Sabiha Zaman is an Assistant Professor (Teaching) in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Cumming School of Medicine. She works in graduate and professional education in the biomedical sciences, with a focus on curriculum design, learner engagement, and program development. Her background includes biomedical research in DNA repair, cancer biology, fertility, and skin pigmentation. During her graduate training, she was also a visiting scholar at Mayo Clinic. She currently engages in qualitative and educational research that connects her scientific background with her approach to teaching and learning.

As part of the MBT leadership team, she contributes to the ongoing growth and development of the Master of Biomedical Technology graduate program. Her role includes interdisciplinary teaching that bridges science, business, and innovation, along with curriculum and assessment design, faculty development, and program innovation. She is committed to inclusive and applied learning experiences that help students connect theory to practice and prepare for diverse professional settings. She brings industry and alumni perspectives into the classroom through seminars, case studies, networking opportunities, and enrichment activities. She also coaches students in science communication and business pitch development, supporting their professional growth through the development of entrepreneurial, collaborative, and transferable skills.

Her scholarly interests include graduate and professional education, science communication, health innovation, and patient and community engagement. She is particularly interested in research on learning beyond the formal curriculum and the role of engagement in educational and health contexts. She welcomes collaborative opportunities in education research, scholarship of teaching and learning, and transdisciplinary research.
