Background

Biography

I am a PhD student in Veterinary Medical Sciences at the University of Calgary and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Costa Rica. My research interests include microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, molecular genetics, and wildlife health, with a particular focus on One Health approaches.

My doctoral research focuses on investigating antimicrobial resistance genes and mobile genetic elements across different hosts and environments using long-read shotgun metagenomics. I bring experience in molecular laboratory techniques, research protocol development, and international collaborative research, with a strong interest in understanding the connections between human, animal, and environmental health.
