Areas of Research
- Brain cancer
Dr Luchman's interests are in signaling pathways that are deregulated in cancer. In the past, Dr. Luchman have worked on modeling cancer initiation and progression using developmental and transgenic mouse models. In the last few years her research has centered on cancer initiating cells in brain tumours and mechanisms regulating their resistance to treatment, with a special focus on intracellular oncogenic pathways and experimental therapeutics. Dr. Luchman aims to develop an understanding of the cell biology in cancer initiation, progression and recurrence for the development of novel targeting therapeutic strategies for glioma.
