Summary of Research

Dr Luchman's interests are in deregulated signal transduction pathways, disease modelling and therapeutics. In the past, Dr. Luchman has modelled cancer initiation and progression using developmental and transgenic mouse models. In recent years her research has been on cancer initiating cells in brain tumours and mechanisms regulating their resistance to treatment, with a special focus on intracellular oncogenic pathways and experimental therapeutics and bench to bedside translation.

Dr. Luchman current focus is to develop an understanding of the cell biology and genetics at play during disease initiation, progression and recurrence for the development of novel targeting therapeutic strategies in genetic and somatic diseases, including rare diseases.
