Biography
Nicolas Martin Martin is a career development, student engagement, and operations professional whose work sits at the intersection of higher education, leadership, automation, and strategic communication. He currently serves as Career Development and Engagement Specialist at the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy, where he leads graduate student programming across career development, experiential learning, alumni engagement, and stakeholder partnerships. His professional path reflects a rare combination of institutional leadership, entrepreneurial thinking, and systems design, shaped by experience in both post-secondary education and private-sector consulting.
Before joining the University of Calgary, Nicolas held progressive leadership roles at NorQuest College, where he helped design and deliver large-scale student engagement initiatives, led cross-functional teams, and created the Emerging Leaders Program, a high-impact leadership cohort that continued beyond his tenure and contributed to his receiving the NorQuest Alumni Award. Alongside his higher education work, he has also held leadership positions at Benchmark Mortgages, where he led marketing, client experience, and automation projects that improved operational efficiency and reduced processing time through AI-enabled workflows. He is also the founder of Excelvia Group, a boutique consultancy focused on automation, systems development, and business process improvement for small and mid-sized organizations.
Originally from Argentina and now based in Calgary, Nicolas brings an international and interdisciplinary perspective to his work. Earlier in his career, he founded and scaled a media and entertainment company across multiple cities in Argentina, worked in television and broadcasting, and built a reputation as a communication coach, facilitator, and public speaker, including as a TEDx speaker. He holds an MBA in Marketing from Golden Gate University, a Co-op Business Diploma from NorQuest College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism from Universidad de Congreso. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Nicolas is known for combining strategic vision with practical execution, building programs and systems that strengthen communities, improve experiences, and help people do meaningful work more effectively.
