Biography

Dr. Nadia Delanoy, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Werklund School of Education.

Dr. Delanoy started her career in K-12 education in 1999 as a teacher and started taking on leadership opportunities such as being a department head, educational technologist, curriculum lead, and took on many administrative duties in both public and private education. She was dedicated to leadership, resulting in positive change that included supporting changing the structure and practices in the past special education programming across elementary, middle, and high schools and leveraging assistive technologies for the students these programs served. She was also a Director of Programs and Instruction with a large educational technology portfolio working as a team with the IT department. Her dedication to K-12 continues as Dr. Delanoy moved into her current role in post-secondary. 

In complement to her roles in K-12, Dr. Delanoy has been a Curriculum Coordinator (Year One), EDUC 456 Assessment- Course Coordinator, Project Manager for the Werklund School Experiential Learning Task Force, and Project Lead for the Partner Teacher Professional Learning Series. 

Research Focus

Dr. Delanoy's research focuses on how people lead and learn in complex and dynamic systems. Specifically, from a data science lens, she studies how, organizational leaders can become more adaptive and apply innovative leadership approaches to strategy, policy, governance, and professional learning in increasingly complex systems. Her work can be found in the International Journal of Leadership in Learning, the Journal of Leadership and Management, the Journal of Business Ethics and Leadership, and the Canadian Journal of Learning Technologies among other places.

Dr. Delanoy is a primary reviewer for Sage Publishing in their E-Learning and Digital Media Journal.

In addition, Dr. Delanoy offers expertise in a variety of non-profit, university, and government departments. Since she started at the University of Calgary, she has worked with faculty at the School of Law, Haskayne School of Business, and the University of Calgary's Sustainability Department in the areas of leadership development, assessment, and technology-enhanced learning, as well as program development and evaluation. Dr. Delanoy is a Director of Advocacy for one of the Fulbright Association arms and works internationally in the educational development arena in places such as Haiti, the United States, and across the Caribbean. Her work has contributed to positive social change and access to educational programming to clear a path for those that may not be served in traditional systems. Her dedication to equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility stemmed from her dedication to educational leadership since she started in the K-12 teaching profession.
