Biography

Dr. Mustafa Mohamad is an expert in stochastic dynamical systems, uncertainty quantification, extreme event analysis, and data-driven methods in science and engineering. He received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering Mechanics with a minor in Mathematics in 2012 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating with highest honors as a Bronze Tablet scholar. He obtained his master’s degree in 2015 and PhD in 2017 both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering and Computation. He received several fellowships and awards at MIT. He then was a postdoctoral associate at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at NYU. Dr. Mohamad also worked in private industry as a research scientist at Numerica Corporation specializing in the development of optimization and sensor scheduling algorithms for space and air defense applications.
