Biography

Dr. Mustafa Mohamad is an expert in stochastic dynamical systems, uncertainty quantification, extreme event analysis, and data-driven methods in science and engineering. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, where his group applies these methods to various engineering applications.

He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Computation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he graduated with highest honors. Before joining the University of Calgary, he was a postdoctoral associate at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at NYU and a research scientist at Numerica Corporation, developing optimization and sensor scheduling algorithms for space and air defense applications.
