Areas of Research
Main areas of research:
- Pediatric brain injury
- Factors affecting selective cellular vulnerability to injury, and factors that affect outcome including genetic and "environmental" risk modifiiers.
Gaining a better understanding of the factors affecting selective cellular vulnerability to injury and recovery with the goal of applying this information to the development of novel treatment strategies. Using a variety of techniques, the effect of CNS injury at the cellular, tissue and systems level will be examined, as well as the factors that affect outcome including genetic and environmental (physical, social, psychological, and biological) risk modifiers. Our goal is to facilitate targeted and dynamic therapeutic interventions in an effort to alter the outcome and promote development of novel markers of "injury" trajectory and treatment response.
Other areas of research:
Through the established paediatric neurology brain injury clinical program at ACH, developing a translational program linking the bedside and the bench.
