Biography

Dr. Mike Chiu is a member of the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Department of Cardiac Sciences and the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta. He works in the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. 

Dr. Chiu received his BSc (honors) in biochemistry and joined the leaders of medicine program at the University of Calgary obtaining his MD and MSc in Biophysical Chemistry.  He completed his FRCPC training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Critical Care at the he University of Calgary. Subsequently he completed an advanced echocardiography fellowship at the University of British Columbia and a CVICU clinical scholar year at the University of Calgary and University of British Columbia. 

Dr. Chiu’s clinical interests and research interests include cardiogenic shock, mechanical and extracorporeal membrane life support, and cardiovascular imaging.
