Biography

Dr. Mia Madel Alfajaro is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, specializing in RNA virology, with a research program centered on virus–host interactions, viral entry mechanisms, and the molecular determinants of cross-species transmission. Her work combines molecular virology, synthetic biology, and cell-based systems to study how emerging RNA viruses, including coronaviruses, interact with host receptors and adapt to new cellular environments. Dr. Alfajaro has published extensively in leading peer-reviewed journals and is committed to advancing fundamental knowledge of viral biology that informs our understanding of viral emergence and evolution.
