Mathew Wenger

Biography

Mathew, an accomplished Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, joined the Intensive Care Team at Foothills Medical Centre Hospital in March 2022, marking a significant chapter in his healthcare career. With a commitment to excellence, Mathew's path in the medical field began as a Registered Nurse within the Alberta Health Services in 2010. His true calling, however, revealed itself in 2011 when he discovered his passion for critical care nursing.

Mathew has a 10-year tenure in Critical Care Nursing, and his expertise has been nurtured across valued institutions such as Calgary's South Health Campus Hospital and Foothills Medical Centre, Edmonton's Royal Alexandra Hospital, The Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus, and St. John's, Newfoundland Health Science Centre. His academic pursuits parallel his dedication, holding a Master of Nursing from Memorial University of Newfoundland, as well as a Bachelor of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the esteemed University of Alberta. Mathew's proficiency in the field is underscored by his certification in Critical Care Nursing bestowed by the Canadian Nurses Association.

In his capacity as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Mathew's role involves operating collaboratively within the intensive care team. He conducts rapid assessments, focusing on facilitating timely interventions and stabilization for critically ill patients. Beyond his clinical duties, Mathew is recognized as a Co-chair on the Calgary Zone DCCM Nurse Practitioner Committee.
