Human Centred Design in Healthcare Data Visualization
Johanna's primary work within this research topic is to provide actionable data visualization on practice patterns to physicians, to help inform practice improvement. Some of the current active projects (2024/2025) include:
- Reduction in Clinical Variation and Day Surgery Optimization in collaboration with the Alberta Surgical Initiative (includes a variety of procedures and physician groups)
- Appropriate Prescribing of Sedating Medications to Seniors
- Prescribing Trends in Rheumatology
- Assessing the Variation in Antipsychotic, Antidepressants, and Sedative Prescribing to Seniors: A Pan-Provincial Review of Low Value Prescribing in Alberta and Saskatchewan
- Don't Misuse my Blood: Reducing avoidable transfusions in patients admitted to Critical Care and High-Risk Surgical Units in Alberta
