Areas of Research

Pharmacological and biochemical aspects of gaseous mediators (such as NO and H2S), mainly related to the control of their endogenous production, as well as potential therapeutic applications making use of experimental models of inflammatory diseases.

The participation of nitrogen, sulfur and oxygen-derived species in many pathological conditions (such as hypertension, diabetes, neuro-degenerative diseases and several inflammatory processes) is well characterized and is currently being considered as potential focus of pharmacological intervention for effective treatment of these diseases.
