Research

Areas of Research

Groundwater Microbiology

My lab studies how microbes make a living in groundwater with a focus on biogeochemical element cycling, interactions between bacteria and biogeography.

Alkaline Soda Lakes

My lab focuses on how cyanobacteria and protists have adapted to and can grow in these extreme environments. We also develop alkaline biotechnology harnessing the unique geochemistry of these lakes for more sustainable processes.
