Biography
Madisen Hvidberg is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Calgary. Madisen’s work explores how digital technologies can be used for the preservation and management of built heritage in Alberta, and her PhD research focuses on how these methods can be used at Indian Residential Schools to support community directed research toward healing and reconciliation.

This community guided project explores how digital technology can be used to commemorate three former Indian Residential Schools in Alberta: Old Sun Community College formerly the Old Sun Indian Residential School on the Siksika Nation; University nuhelot’ine thaiyots’i nistameyimâkanak Blue Quills, formerly Blue Quills Indian Residential School in St. Paul, AB; Edmonton Indian Residential School Carriage House in St. Albert.
