Luiz de Almeida

Biography

Luiz de Almeida holds a M.Sc. in Immunology from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, where he began his bioinformatics journey by integrating protein modelling and epitope prediction for vaccine development. For the Ph.D., Luiz focused on proteomics and machine learning to identify a biomarker for the diagnosis of Crohn’s disease, and obtained a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a specialization in Bioinformatics from the University of Calgary. Luiz worked on many collaborations during his Ph.D., analyzing omics datasets for a wide range of projects, leading to the publication of over 15 papers. In August 2025, Luiz joined ASOC and will lead the development of advanced data analysis pipelines, support biomarker discovery, and collaborate with researchers across our platforms to deliver high-impact, translational insights.
