Biography
Lennard Kuijten serves as Manager, Technology Solutions & Innovation at the Centre for Health Informatics, combining medical and technical expertise to drive innovative research solutions. He holds a Medical degree, complemented by degrees in Cognitive Sciences, Ergonomics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with honors.
Lennard’s experience spans various roles, including his tenure at the Clinical Research Unit (2019-2024), where he oversaw data collection platforms and clinical research initiatives, leading teams of analysts, operations, and software specialists, and strategizing roadmap development. In industry (2008-2017) he worked as Lead Data Scientist, in Practice Lead roles, as Senior Software Specialist at fintech, customer experience and content management startups as well as Health-Infrastructure Researcher at a larger medical research company, innovating specialized home healthcare solutions. The academic collaborations include internal projects and EU-funded initiatives integrating software and AI best practices. His multidisciplinary education and experience allow him to bridge complex health research needs and technical challenges, ultimately delivering practical, innovative solutions.
As Manager, Lennard leads a diverse team supporting innovative research initiatives in clinical domains. By collaborating with University of Calgary IT and Research Compute Services, his team delivers robust infrastructure, custom software solutions, and specialized expertise in solution design for large-scale linked-data and ETL (Extract-Transfer-Load) projects, electronic data collection, data science, web development, and app design. This encompasses comprehensive support for research workflows, including research data management solutions, dashboarding, data exports, and intelligence requirements for linked data, leveraging Cumming School of Medicine resources. They focus on delivering well-defined, tracked projects with realistic outcomes, leveraging project leads and coordination for seamless end-to-end research initiative management.
