Biography
Kirstin holds an MSW from the University of Calgary and is a Neurodiversity Support Advisor at Student Accessibility Services.
Kirstin identifies as neurodivergent, and is passionate about supporting communities and students through a social lens of neurodiversity. In 2021, she developed and implemented the University's first neurodiversity programming in Student Wellness Services. This led to the creation of the University's Sensory-friendly Lounge (MSC 450), one-on-one mental health support for self-identifying neurodivergent students, student peer support, and community outreach and education. Since then programming has evolved and the Neurodiversity Support Office was created.
The Neurodiversity Support Office offers neuro-affirming educational supports to students. Neurodiversity Student Advising sessions are guided learning opportunities for students to: understand neurodivergence, increase self-awareness, improve wellbeing, and skills building.
In her spare time you may find Kirstin attending local festivals or attempting to start a new hobby.
