Biography
Dr. Katharina Koch is a Research Associate at the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary. In her current role, she is contributing to the development of a Canadian climate policy database and research on the distributional impacts of climate policies. Previously, she contributed to the Canadian Northern Corridor Research Program, examining infrastructure disparities across Canada’s North and Arctic through extensive community engagement. Her research spans security and geopolitics in the North and Arctic, including their linkages to infrastructure development and environmental change, as well as the digital divide and the implications of inadequate infrastructure for northern and Indigenous communities. She holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Oulu in Finland and has obtained her M.A. and a B.A. from Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
