Background

Biography

Dr. Jamani completed a bone marrow transplant/cellular therapy fellowship at the University of Calgary and at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre.  He subsequently obtained an MPH from the Harvard Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Jamani is the director of the Alberta Blood & Marrow Transplant Program adult long-term follow-up/survivorship clinic. His clinical practice further comprises leukemia and hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT)/cellular therapy, particularly HCT for non-malignant diseases like hemoglobinopathies and autoimmune diseases. Dr. Jamani is the current chair of the Cell Therapy Transplant Canada Donor & Collections Committee.

Summary of Research

Dr. Jamani is a clinical researcher with a focus on late effects, survivorship and quality of life after hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT).  His work has included examining the epidemiology of subsequent malignancies after HCT, examining the spectrum of late toxicities after HCT and how late toxicities impact quality of life of HCT recipients and caregivers. Dr. Jamani’s additional research interest includes efficacy and toxicity of HCT and cellular therapy for non-malignant diseases.
