Background

Biography

Kara has a background in Earth and data sciences, graduating with a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Sydney (2014). She works with the Data and Information Services team at the Arctic Institute of North America, and has a special interest in geospatial data visualization, research data and information management, and science outreach, particularly via simple web application development. Prior to joining the Institute, Kara was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford and the University of Sydney, building quantitative plate reconstruction models and using marine geophysics data to map and interpret tectonic structures on the seafloor.

Soper's World: A Journey into the Canadian Arctic through Art

Joseph Dewey Soper (1893–1982) was a Canadian explorer, naturalist and artist, who made important contributions to our understanding of Canada's northernmost regions. Through his extensive collection of watercolour paintings, Soper's World tells the story of his life and adventures in the Arctic.
