Biography
My PhD is in Microbiology and Cell Science and was acquired at the University of Florida. After that I trained with Sergio Grinstein at the Hospital for Sick Children (Sickkids) in macrophage biology. Later, I joined the lab of Caetano Reis e Sousa at the Francis Crick Institute in the UK. In 2021, I came to U of C as an assistant professor.
Research
Areas of Research
Apolipoprotein control of antigen cross-presentation and tumor immunity
Our laboratory studies the very earliest events in the initiation of immune responses. Using high-throughput and super-resolution light microscopy we seek to unravel the complex interplay between cells that sense potential threats and effector cells that are responsible for restoring homeostasis. Our approach has been instrumental in unravelling the biophysical interactions that mediate immunity and is now being applied to study autoimmunity and cancer.
