Areas of Research

Human and Animal Vaccines, Algal and Plant Biotechnology

My research interests combine the fields of immunology, infectious diseases, and plant/agal biotechnology with the overall goal of producing inexpensive pharmaceuticals for prophylactic and therapeutic use for human and animal health. To this end, my Clinical Research activities include vaccine design, production, delivery, and evaluation of serological responses to meningococcal and pneumococcal vaccines. We have expertise in Correlation of Protection Assays, which include Meningococcal Serum Bactericidal Assays and Pneumococcal Multiplex Opsonophagocytic Assays. Moreover, our Algal and Plant Biotechnology activities are directed towards producing pharmaceuticals for human and animal health.
