Areas of Research
I am a tenure-track assistant professor at Mount Royal University, where I began in December 2023. Prior to this position, I served as a post-doctoral fellow under the guidance of Dr. Sheri Madigan at the University of Calgary. My academic journey includes completing my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of British Columbia, followed by a predoctoral residency at IWK Health in Halifax, NS. My research program is dedicated to developing a comprehensive understanding of the determinants of parenting and their intricate associations to inform evidence-based practices that enhance parent well-being and child outcomes. Drawing from various models of social cognition, parenting, and bioecological theory, I investigate the cognitive processes underlying parenting behaviors and how parents' mental health symptoms can influence parent-child interactions. Additionally, I am intrigued by transdiagnostic processes, such as parental executive functions, and their role in mitigating the stressors parents face in everyday life. To achieve these objectives, I employ diverse research methodologies, including observational paradigms, experimental designs, longitudinal data analysis, and meta-analytic reviews. I am deeply committed to conducting research that supports parents in their vital role of raising children. Furthermore, I maintain a broader interest in exploring risk and resilience factors associated with child and adolescent mental health, encompassing family-level factors alongside other sociodemographic and ecological influences.
