Biography
Jo-Louise Huq received her Ph.D. in Strategic Management and Organization from the University of Alberta School of Business. She completed her postdoctoral studies at Haskayne School of Business with a focus on innovation in health care.
Jo-Louise is an Assistant Professor (Teaching) at Cumming School of Medicine, Community Health Sciences, with a 30% secondment to Haskayne School of Business, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She leads the Cumming School of Medicine's Precision Health Program's Innovation & Entrepreneurship specialization and teaches a variety of courses in this program. At Haskayne School of Business, Jo-Louise teaches in the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and PhD programs, supervises PhD and DBA students, and teaches at the MBA and undergraduate levels.
Jo-Louise’s research interests are related to wicked problems, innovation and change in health care, social innovation and social entrepreneurship, and the sociology of health professions. Her current research projects are related to entrepreneurship and innovation in health care, social entrepreneurship, and co-production of medical education - all of which require substantial institutional and organizational change. All of these research projects are approached through community partnerships and with substantial involvement of practitioners.
Jo-Louise is a qualitative researcher. Her research has been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies, Business & Society, BMJ Quality & Safety, BMJ Leader, the Conversation, and Leadership.
