Biography

Dr. Jie Pan is an Alberta Innovates and Cuming School of Medicine Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Health Informatics, University of Calgary. He received his Ph.D. in Information Systems and Engineering from Concordia University. His research interests include health informatics, computational geometry, natural language processing, and deep learning. 

Dr. Jie Pan's research focuses on 1) electronic health records-enabled health service research and healthcare system performance evaluation, and 2) learning health systems powered by artificial intelligence methods and large language models. He has developed multiple phenotyping algorithms for health conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, acute myocardial infarction, and hospital-acquired adverse events, providing the basis for precision health.
