My work focuses on identifying, measuring, and addressing quality gaps using quality improvement methodology. A current priority is understanding patient and family preferences in managing acute pain in the emrgency department, and implementing process improvements to improve outcomes. We are using continuous quality improvement methods and statistical process control to measure ongoing performance and progress toward aims in children presenting to the emergency department with painful limb injuries.

Other areas of interest include identification of quality gaps in diagnosis and management of children with emergency medical conditions, quality improvement education, and quality improvement project ethics.
